The HDL M/DMX512.1 KNX DMX Recorder Module is a DIN-rail gateway that connects a KNX/EIB installation to DMX512 lighting equipment. It supports two-way control — KNX commands can drive DMX fixtures, and DMX signals can control KNX group objects — and functions as a DMX program recorder with up to 24 stored programs and a maximum recording time of 4 hours.

The module supports DMX512-1990, ArtNet DMX, and HDL NET DMX protocols. It is designed for entertainment and architectural applications: moving heads, laser lights, LED colour changers, and other fixtures with a built-in DMX port. An additional 24 V DC auxiliary supply (40 mA) is required for the DMX interface.

Three Operating Modes

• DMX recorder mode: Record, store, play back, and delete DMX programs from ETS or a KNX wall panel — up to 24 programs, 4 hours total recording time. Recording from DMX line or Art-Net supported.
• DMX dimming mode (KNX → DMX): Switching or dimming for up to 48 DMX channels from the KNX system.
• DMX to KNX mode: Switching or absolute dimming for up to 48 KNX channels from DMX input signals (1-bit / 1-byte data points).

Choosing HDL Lighting Gateways

The M/DMX512.1 is for DMX512 show and effect lighting with recording capability. The M/DALI.1 covers conventional DALI commercial lighting. For phase-dimmed circuits, use HDL MOSFET dimming actuators on the same KNX installation.
