The ABB SV/S 30.640.3.1 KNX Power Supply is the highest-capacity MDRC unit in the SV/S 30 series. It generates and monitors the KNX system voltage (SELV) at 640 mA on the main line — the right choice for heavily loaded main lines, large commercial segments, and panels that share a single supply with IP infrastructure.

Unlike the 160 mA and 320 mA models, the SV/S 30.640.3.1 provides a second 30 V DC output (unregulated) for an auxiliary line or separate DC load. The main line is decoupled by an integrated choke; the auxiliary line requires a separate external choke when used as a KNX bus segment. Both outputs are short-circuit and overload protected. Mains input covers 85 … 265 V AC, 50/60 Hz, and a two-colour LED indicates output status.

Applications and KNX Integration

• Large main lines: Power a heavily loaded backbone with mixed sensors, actuators, line couplers, and IP routers.
• Dual-line panels: Feed the main KNX segment from the integrated-choke output and a secondary segment from the auxiliary output via an external choke.
• IP router and visualization: Often paired with an IPR/S3.5.1 KNX IP Router Secure and an CT/S2.1 APP-Control Server in the same distribution board.
• Sub-line coupling: Main line feeds multiple sub-lines through LK/S 4.2 line couplers.

Choosing SV/S 30 Power Supplies

For small lines, the SV/S 30.160.1.1 KNX Power Supply 160 mA may suffice. For medium lines without a secondary output requirement, the SV/S 30.320.1.1 KNX Power Supply 320 mA is the most common choice. Choose the 640 mA model when the line budget exceeds 320 mA or when a second 30 V output is needed. Binary inputs such as the BE/S10.20.3.2 KNX Binary Input 10-fold Data Secure draw minimal bus current but must be included in the line budget.
