ABB BE/M4.12.1 is a four-input plug-in module for the ABB i-bus® KNX RC/A4.2 and RC/A8.2 Room Controller basis units. It is not a standalone KNX device: it only operates when inserted into a compatible RC/A module slot.

The host Room Controller provides module power and KNX bus communication. ETS parameterisation, communication objects, and manual test operation are also handled through the RC/A basis unit; the BE/M module has no separate KNX connection or standalone ETS application.

Inputs and Intended Use

• Input arrangement: 4 floating-contact inputs; Uₙ = 12 V contact scanning.
• Typical signals: pushbuttons, window contacts, relay contacts, and other potential-free status contacts.

Installation and Enclosure Rating

Disconnect the Room Controller and field circuits before inserting, removing, or wiring a module, and follow the type-specific ABB installation instructions. ABB does not specify a standalone enclosure rating for this plug-in module. The fully assembled RC/A Room Controller basis unit is rated IP54; that rating belongs to the assembled host unit, not to the loose BE/M module.
